The largest city in the state of Louisiana, New Orleans is a port state and a metropolitan destination for people of diverse cultural backgrounds. The city has its limits bound by the Mississippi river, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Lake Pontchartrain. The climate of New Orleans is characterized by mild winters and humid summers, but it experiences a threat of hurricanes every so often. New Orleans has a French cultural background that has influenced the architecture as well as the diverse nationalities that are attracted to this city. Tourism is a significant part of the city’s cultural heritage as well as its economy; it is one of the most frequented cities in the US.
The Mahalia Jackson Theater is one of the epitomes of the performing arts culture characterizes the city of New Orleans. This 2,100-seat theater was established in 1973 and was named after the popular gospel musician Mahalia Jackson. The theater is contained in a green space, the Louis Armstrong Park that has had historical significance to the development of the arts and music culture of the theater. The Mahalia Jackson Theater has modern acoustic system, a spacious balcony and gallery and has been revamped into it modern state and has attracted famous artists since the damage caused by Katrina.

Considered as the center of New York Metropolitan city, New York is ranked as one of the most popular city in the entire United States. In the fields of commerce, entertainment, culture, fashion and finance, it is known to apply a great influence globally. It is located on the Atlantic coast and by 2008; it had recorded a population of over 8.3 billion. Due to the entertainment industry, it has a variety of theaters and other entertainment scenes that are frequented often.
Gershwin Theater is considered as one of the most frequented places and hosts a variety of events. It is large and at any given time can seat up to one thousand nine hundred people. The seating arrangement at the theater is great with side orchestra seats which ensure that no matter where one is seated, they can still get the full view of what happens on the main stage.
Some of the amenities found within the theater include, a bar which has a plaster wall running two hundred feet high and a hall of fame which the names of the most renowned stage names. It also has an auditorium on the second floor which can be easily accessed by use of escalators and light towers that can be removed if the action taking place in the theater demands it.
